Digital Waaagh! Contest

We've got a new blog on the rolls today that just went live- and in a big way.  Auberon, a familiar face around here, and his team are proud to bring you 40k and Ork fans out there the Digital Waaagh!, a blog dedicated to all things Orky.  Not a compelling enough argument so far?  Well, guess what.  They're also running 3 contests this weekend, one of which can be won simply by following them, to support their launch weekend.  How great is that?  Contest details can be found here

Still need a kick in the keister to head on over?  Check out this snazzy video they've put together:

User Content Friday - Interchangeable Rhino to Razorback including Las/Plas!

Normally we like to pick articles that have had a chance to breath when it comes to Friday.  But every so often something so cool comes along that it has to be shared NOW.  Nick from IDICBeer contacted us about his super cool Rhino chasis tutorial and wanted to know if we could get the word out.  After we finished crapping Brent's pants, we decided that we could find a way to show this off.  Though we tried to get Nick to change the title to "Fucking Magnets:  Here's How They Work".  In any case... behold! The power of self promotion:

Nick speaking,

OK, so time to build my first Space Wolves Razorback/Rhino! And with inspiration from 40k Battle Report, I am going to make one tank that I can have as a Razorback or Rhino, with as many interchangeable part as I can, after all, who knows how GW will be changing things in the future! Just in case you didn't know, never buy a Rhino! Always get yourself the Razorback, as you get all the Rhino bitz in the Razorback box, plus the Razorback turrets.

First up, and just to get this out the way, I am not painting anything Space Wolves at the moment! All my painting time has been allocated to my Eldar and Tyranids, so expect to see plastic and metal models with any of my Space Wolves posts, except for my already painted Fenrisian Wolves.

I haven't gotten the chance to dive in yet, but I just found out that some big changes have been made in 40K with a wave of new FAQs.  Rumor has it the drastic changes go so far as to make Dark Angels and Black Templars competitive again.  Here's to hoping that this will usher in a new era of GW showing improved speed to execution with their updates.  Welcome to the digital age gentlemen.

So make sure you download these bad boys and get to discussing.

The updates can be downloaded here.

And now a semi-related picture:

This isn't related to this post at all.

Gaming on a Budget: Blister Packs Part 2

Well folks I'm back to bring you another cheap treat guaranteed to fit any gamer's budget.  Thanks a lot for the overwhelmingly positive response to the inaugural post in this series last week.  Today we'll be dealing with the foam that comes in your blisters.  Without a doubt this is the most useful part of your blister pack (other than the mini that comes in it, of course).  It is, however, unfortunate that GW seems to be skimping on this useful tool and not putting them in every single blister any longer.  As far as I know, PP and most other companies are still putting foam in their blisters, though.

The Weekly Top X - Whither Brent?

Hello everyone and welcome to this week's Top X.  X equals seven today which is two more than the old stand by of five.  However, Brent was been called back to his unit and was unable to add his wit and charm to this weeks post until right this very minute.  He couldn't tell me exactly what he was up to - he just kept muttering something about the penis being evil...  welp, lets dive in!

Brent in uniform - artist's interpretation
Brent: Well, folks... one of these days Lauby is just gonna kill me - not pretend kill, or saying it for effect... I mean he’ll come to Texas and settle my hash once and for all.

For making Top X late! You have my apologies, Ye Ol’ Blogosphere: I’ve been losing days again. (I wonder how that happens?)

Lauby: No worries, Brent.  Shit happens.  Well.. actually... some worries are in order. There is that whole hash settling things.  I'm just glad you showed up after all and saved everyone from a lame, Brentless Top X.

They Don't Make Nostalgia Like They Used To...

Not so Long Ago...
I needed a hobby.

My hobby at the time which was 'drink till you fall over' was getting a little monotonous and besides which I'd pretty much mastered it by that point ;-)

So I decided killing peoples toy soldiers with my own toy soldiers was the way to go...

New Member Monday: No Clever Subtitle Today I'm Afraid

We may have to start some kind of 'friends and family' reward system soon - so many of you are pointing your buds in our direction that we're getting this fantastic clusters of blogs.  We're also breaking through the 'GW barrier' that surrounds the part of the blogoshpere we started out in. It's like that one episode of Star Trek only with blogs instead of mysterious negative energy and hot alien babes... actually its nothing like that.  The point is that were getting a good base of non GW centered blogs and the idea pool is getting deeper.  Good times.

We're in spaaaaaaace!
